    Zilla Parishad have been formed in Maharashtra since 1962. In at the work is done by appropriating the grants approved by the Government for the new construction and repair of public buildings, New construction and repair of roads, new paving and bridges and repair of public building under the jurisdictions of Executive Engineer (B and C) /Irrigation Department Zilla Parishad Sangli

    Introduction

    Under the Maharashtra State Zilla Parishad and Panchayat samiti act 1961 of 100 some schemes have been transferred from the government to the District Council. The works in the same Carried out under the supervision of District Council ie Executive Engineer (B and C)

    Aspects and objectives

    The maintenance and repair of road and bridges in rural areas and buildings owned by the District council in sangli district is taken through proper utilization of grants received from the government at the district level and to spend the budget provision within the prescribed time during the financial year.

    The Purpose of work

    Schemes which receive grants every year under the schemes mentioned below with the works department are as follows-

    1. For work under the General Program (DPC) or the plan, the district route is mainly decided on the basis of grant from the District Planning Committee, rural roads, Stone Paving bridges etc. works are done.
    2. Local Development Program (MP Fund) receives grants from the Collector for the works listed in the House, in which works like Gymnasium, roads, reading room etc. are done.
    3. Local Development program ( MLA fund) District level grants are received from Government of Maharashtra. In this mainly works suggested by the MLAs
    4. Dongri Vikas Karyakram- Full group of Shirala Taluka, Five villages of Khanapur Taluka, four villages of Kadegaon Taluka are included in Dongri Vikas Karyakram.
    5. 15 th Finance Commission- Through Maharashtra Government, Funds are received at three levess ( Zilla parishad, Panchayat Samiti And Grampanchayat) and development works are carried out.
