    Rural Water Supply Department

    Department related Information :

    To provide drinking water to the citizens of rural areas of the district as per ISI standards. This important work has to be done through the department. Since 200-10, the Central Government has decided to restructure the National Rural Drinking Water Program by incorporating it into the Jal Jeevan Mission. According to this, the government is committed to supply water to all the families in rural areas by the year 2024 in the rorm of Tap Water to Every House (FHTC- Functional Household Tap Connection). By the year 2024, every household in the rural areas of the state will have at least 55 liters through individual tap connection. The main objective of Jal Jeevan Mission is to supply quality water every day.

    Introduction

    :

    Sangli district has 10 Blocks. Each block has separate Water supply sub division. With is headed by Deputy Engineer (Civil) Moreover district has one Mechanical sub division and one maintenance and repairs cell. Both headed by deputy engineer mechanical.  Also Zillha Parishad has separate  geologists cell which has given responsibility of source identification for water supply schemes.

    All these sub division and cells directly came under technical head wich is executive engineer rural water supply department Zillha Parishad Sangli and administrative head CEO Zillha Parishad.

    Vision

    :

    The vision of Rural Water Supply department is to supply potable water with prescribed quantity (55 LPCD) through out the year at the doorstep of each households.

    Objectives : 

    Previously each village has a water supply scheme designed for 40 LPCD for projected population of 15 years. Under Jal Jeevan Mission central government has decided to raise the service level from 40 to 55 LPCD.

    A total of 683 schemes in Sangli district are taken up and targeted to be completed by December 2025. Till date 376 schemes are completed and others are under progress.

    Also total number of rural families wich are 459048 to be given individual functional tap connection. Out of this 401570 families given tap connection and remaining are to be covered by December 2025.
