Sangli District The Health Department was established in the year 1962.
Earlier, Public Health Department was functioning under District Local Board. In 1962, the Health Office was shifted to the main building of the ZillaParishad. This office is operational till date
The population of Sangli District Rural Division is 2352281 and provision of preventive and curative health facilities to the population is done by the Health Department of the District Council. For this the following health institutions are working.

Out-patient theatre in each primary health center , there is in patient department, out-patient dept.first aid department, theatre labour Room, , drug store,. Apart from this, residential facilities are available for employees and officers. Each Primary Health Center has 6 bed facilities for inter-morbidity, delivery, treatment of sick patients etc.

1) District Health Officer (DHO)
He is the head of the health department of the Zill Parishad In accordance with the orders and guidelines issued by the Health Department, He will moniter whether all the officers and employees of the Health Department are carrying out effective and result-oriented implementation of the all Health Programme. responsibility District Health Officer will be responsible for controlling the overall functioning and maintaining disciplined and efficient administration continuously, He will suddenly visit inspect and review the functioning. He will submit the investigation reports of the visit and the action taken to the senior officers for information and appropriate action, He will also visit various sub-departments of the District Health Office and conduct the inspection. At the district level and taluka level, He will hold review meetings and provide information and guidance.
2) Additional District Health Officer (ADHO)
He is responsible for effective implementation of the entire district’s disease surveillance programme. As a conduct Officer in the talukas assigned to him, he regularly visits the Primary Health Center and improves its functioning. He will enqure medical officer- in talukas in order to achieve the desired fulfillment of various national health programmes, day-to-day approvals, minor leaves etc., He will organize camps and campaigns. Or otherwise they will work as per the instruction given by the District Health Officer.
3) District Reproductive and Child Health Officer (DRCHO)
DRCHO will furnish responsibilities regarding Reproductive and Child Health Program, Vaccination Programme, Integrated Child Development Programme, School Health Checkup, Ashram School Checkup, AFP Surveillance Pulse Polio Vaccination, survey and control regarding mother and child mortality, cold chain maintaince, demand and supply of vaccinators, survey and control of patients coming to the vaccinator, planning and organizing health service sessions, complications after vaccination etc. In the talukas assigned to them, Karunan will inspect the functioning of the primary health centers, panchayat committees, sub-centres, provide guidance and provide guidance on the functioning of the concerned taluka medical officers and approve daily and minor orders.
4) Administration Officer

5) District Extension and Media Officer

He will persue regarding the demand, supply and investment of audio-visual literature. Various health related news, complaints and related information regarding redressal of complaints for various campaigns. Various will be handled are by him publicity work will be carried out. Primary Health Center provides with information regarding IEC program as per the guidance of District Health Officer. Monthly report on his work will be given to seniors with utmost respect. will follow the instructions given by the District Health Officer.
6) Statistical Officer Class 2
In each taluka of the district, the records regarding births and deaths will be compiled or the reports regarding the same will be submitted to the seniors after signing by the District Health Officer. District based miscellaneous rates eg. birth rate mortality rate, maternal mortality rate, , child mortality rate etc., He will be compiled to the District Health Officer regarding the information management system of all health programs district and control the reports. 7) Taluka Health Officer

8) Medical Officer @PHC

10) Extension Officer (H) /Health Supervisor

12) Health Assistant (Male)
